Japanese service provider NTT Data is looking to expand its business into the big data space, striking a major partnership with MarkLogic earlier this month to push this goal beyond the drawing board. It just so happens that Hadoop distributor Cloudera is now looking to make an expansion of its own in Japan, and NTT will play a big role in establishing the local subsidiary.
The new unit is called Cloudera KK, which will serve as a formal presence of the company in the nation that its management team evidently considers as a big potential market. NTT Data and another local firm, Nippon Steel Solutions, come in to provide support and related services to clients.
“As demand for Big Data in Japan continues to grow, Cloudera’s presence will empower Japanese enterprises to implement Hadoop and explore machine data that was previously left idle. I look forward to contributing to the company’s aggressive growth and expansion and to seeing where the Big Data revolution will go in Japan,” said Giuseppe Kobayashi, the director of Cloudera Japan.
In addition to expanding its actual business the company also said it’s making its Hadoop training courses and certification programs available in local centers.
